Fruits Basket series by Natsuki Takaya

 

   I'm only partially through the manga, but Fruits Basket is a really good series. The first six books were the basis for the anime which is a good series to watch. The story switches from very funny to very sad quite often and often very quickly. It's hard not to get attached to the characters. The story is about Tohru and the cursed family that basically adopts her after her mother dies. I would say that this series would be acceptable to teens and above.
